    Abdel Rahman was born and raised in Bahrain. He is the president and founder of the Bahrain Riders Club. The Bahrain Riders Club, which was founded in 2008, is one of two official motorcycle clubs in Bahrain. The Bahrain Riders Club now has chapter in 17 countries through the Middle East and North Africa region and recently initiated the Medina (KSA) Riders. The Bahrain Riders Club places a priority road safety. They have partnered with the Bahrain Ministry of Interior to put on seminars teaching people safe practices on the road.

    Adeeb and Ali are high school students in Bahrain who race together and form the Bahrain 1 karting team. They are participating in the upcoming Under-18 championship final, which will be held November 9 at the Viva karting track in Sakhir, Bahrain. Additionally, Adeeb recently won the Red Bull kart fight held in Bahrain, and will be representing Bahrain in the upcoming finals, to be held in December in Bologna, Italy.

He received the GOYS National Youth Award in 2006 as well as social media day’s Online Social Networking Award. They handle entire advertising campaigns through varied mediums including print, digital and collaborative social media platforms. He was born and raised in Manama and has a bachelor's degree in professional accounting from the New York Institute of Technology Bahrain and as associate diploma in accounting from the University of Bahrain. He went on to work in insurance, but began focusing seriously on photography in 2003. He landed his first paid shoot in 2007 and become a full-time freelance photographer in 2009. In 2011, he opened his own photography studio and focuses on offering professional, affordable work to local clients. Ali has worked locally in Bahrain as well as abroad in Saudi Arabia, Qatar, China and Thailand. "t has always been my ambition to develop my own style in photography, for my images to be instantly recognisable by people in the industry as my own, drawing my inspiration from the great photographers whose imagery inspired me and remain to do so till this day," Ali wrote. Ammar studied in London, and launched his career as a window designer for Harvey Nichols. One of Ammar’s favorite memories is flying to Paris 17 times while he was helping design the space for a wedding, and how Christian Louboutin had designed the wedding shoes for the bride. She had an early interest in art, and is currently the owner of Shades Art Center, where she displays her work and also teaches art. Areej has diploma’s in commercial studies and business management from the University of Bahrain, and an access diploma in general management from Hull University. She has an art diploma from the London College of art as well as a diploma in play work and therapeutic play from the University of Gloucestershire. She has held personal exhibitions of her work in 2010 and 2011, and hopes to hold an exhibition in 2012 as well. Within the Bahrain Marshals Club Ayyoub is the chief emergency services coordinator, making him in charge of emergency response procedures on the track. He is also an accredited driving instructor. Ayyoub’s love of motorsport began when he was a rally driver, and his position within the Bahrain Marshals Club seemed natural given his experience as a fire chief. “I got dragged into this fire marshal thing because I am a fire chief as my day job and I like it. I like to help,” he said.

    Dr. Amjad has been involved with the medical marshal team since the inception of the BIC in 2004. He has a background in emergency room medicine and is double board certified. He is currently a resident emergency room doctor at the Salmaniya Medical Complex where he is also a teacher and a tutor. Dr. Amjad is also actively involved in the road safety society in Bahrain. His excellent work as head of the medical marshals has also won him recognition from the FIA, who recognizes him as an authority on the role of chief medical officer. In 2009 and 2010 he was voted best chief medical officer by the FIA. He is very proud of the team he works with, and refers to the entire marshal organization as “one big family, where every team completes the puzzle.”

Her permanent collection is housed in Southern Nevada Museum of Fine Art in Las Vegas and her work has also been exhibited in art galleries in the United States, Europe and India. Hebah’s interest in fashion began when she was a little girl in elementary school competing in costume designs. She has showcased her work across Bahrain and the Gulf, in various exhibitions and boutiques. Hebah now has her own storefront where she exhibits her collections. In addition to her work in the football communities, she is the founder of an electronics boutique called Tronix in Riffa, Bahrain. Hussa holds two master’s degrees: an MBA and a master’s of science in human resources from DePaul University in Chicago, Illinois. In her free time, Hussa enjoys anything having to do with the beach and traveling. She believes that the friendliness and openness of the Bahraini people comes from the fact that Bahrain is an island, and thus its people are used to having visitors from other countries.

    Big J is a chief marshal at the Bahrain International Circuit. He trains regularly with his team to ensure motorsport events happen smoothly and safely. Big J began his career as a marshal in 2004 and has since increased in scope of work and responsibility. He acquired his marshalling skills and knowledge from teams in Australia, where he traveled for five years. These trips inspired him to package what he learned in Australia and apply it to the Bahrain Marshal’s Club. Big J currently oversees 75 track marshals during race time at the BIC.

    Maryam Yusuf Jamal made history as the first Bahraini to win an Olympic medal when she won the bronze medal in the 1500m race at the 2012 London Olympic Games. She is a two-time world champion in the 1500m race, having won it at the 2007 and 2009 Athletics World Championships. She represented Bahrain in the 2008 Beijing Olympic Games where she finished fifth in the 1500m final. Maryam has also won two gold medals at the 2006 Asian Games in addition to the Asian Cross Country Championships in 2007 and 2009. Maryam was born in Ethiopia and received citizenship to Bahrain after leaving Ethiopia for economic and political reasons. In preparation for the month of Ramadan, May, and co-founder Nisreen, assemble boxes of food and clothing that are then distributed to families in need.     Mohammed has over 9 years of experience in the field of media. He later joined the Supreme Council for Women as a Senior Media and International Cooperation Specialist and has worked on several national programs aimed at empowering women. Mohammed was educated in Bahrain and received a degree in international studies from AMA University in Bahrain. His hobbies include traveling and music.

    Mohammed is a tennis player who grew up in Bahrain. He was inspired to begin playing tennis after reading the book, “Breaking Back” by James Blake, a professional tennis player. Mohammed studied business management at Lehigh University in Pennsylvania. He is a great advocate of encouraging people to work hard and achieve their dreams, and often uses tennis as a way to drive positive change in the community.     Mohanna was born in Bahrain and grew up traveling the world as a member of the Bahrain National Sailing team. He currently works selling marine equipment and has his International Kiteboarding Organization (IKO) level one certification, which allows him to teach kitesurfing on the side. Mohanna studied at the University of Portsmouth in the United Kingdom. Mohanna spends as much time as he can on the water through boating or diving and has an intimate knowledge of Bahrain’s coastline.

    Armed with an interior and spatial design degree from Chelsea College of Art and Design, and a master’s degree in urban design from University College London, Muna began her career working for international interior design firm DWP. She then went on to work on Bahrain’s winning project, Reclaim, for the Venice Biennale Golden Lion awards. Realizing that she didn’t need to restrict her love of design to one specific field, she created her newly launched design brand, HARAKA. With her first collection of colorful watches, t-shirts and bags already out in the market, she hopes to expand the HARAKA brand to include more product lines in the near future.

    HARAKA, Muna’s brand of watches, is available at La Boutique 92 and Khaleda Rajab’s shop in the Diplomatic Area and will be available online shortly.

Nada’s favorite place in Bahrain is the Bahrain Fort at sunset, and her hobbies include reading, swimming and tweeting.

    Nazli is one of the founders of the New Dawn Society for Women, a charitable organization in Bahrain. The group began in 2004, and was officially recognized as an organization in 2006. When the group was founded, all members were within the 20-30 age range, and the only prerequisite for joining was that a woman must be within this age range. Now the New Dawn Society for women holds two fundraising events per year, has a database of families in need, and selects a different charity to benefit each year. Nazli has her bachelor’s of science degree in marketing and management, and currently works as a manager of human resources. Her hobbies include writing, reading and travelling.

    The Batelco Racing team was founded in 1998 and they currently compete in both car and karting championships. The team started out as a karting team, as the Bahrain International Circuit had not been built at the time.. The Batelco Racing Team joined the last two world championships. They finished second and third respectively. Bahrain’s speed weekend, held March 30-31, 2012, marked the first time the team participated in a circuit type race at the Bahrain International Circuit.

    Rana is originally from Egypt, and moved to Bahrain in 1998. She calls Bahrain home, and feels fortunate to have ended up in a place where people are friendly and open-minded. Rana co-runs the popular blog, Bahrain Events, who was founded by the author of Bahrainipreneur (sister blog). They both felt like there was a lack of promotion surrounding local events in Bahrain. Bahrainivents was launched to cover as many events as we can, with the help of their supporting readers too.
    Ideally she and her colleague hope that it will be a platform for people in Bahrain to come to not just for updates on events, but also to read feedback and comments on these events from other readers. We also want to help the smaller events get as much exposure as possible for free.

Her photography practice is inspired by capturing the beauty, colors and spirit of her native country. Rasha recently founded an all female photography group that meets every weekend to go out and take photographs and discuss each others work.

    Rashed was born into a family of artists in Bahrain. Thanks to the influence of his father and uncle, Rashed works to connect Bahrain’s past and present through art. He is currently studying at the University of the Arts in London where he is working towards a degree on interior and spatial design. Among his accomplishments, Rashed counts a series he did on prominent individuals in Bahrain, an exhibition the Bahraini embassy in London held for him, and getting the Le Opera coffee shop to commission a painting.

    Rawia was born in Lebanon, but grew up in Bahrain. Her family moved to Canada during the Gulf War, and they now reside in Bahrain as Canadian citizens. Rawia has a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Concordia University in Canada, is certified in graphic design, and has been working in brand and public relations consulting for many years. She also has a master’s degree in art and literature of the Middle East from the University London College in the United Kingdom. Rawia is currently the Project Manager of the Best of Bahrain publication on www.GVPedia.com. Among her hobbies, Rawia counts tribal fusion belly dancing, travel, reading and writing.

    Reem is a 24 year old marine biologist and spokeswoman for the AYCM’s Bahrain chapter. She graduated from Imperial College London a year ago with an MSc. in ecology, evolution and conservation. Reem is also a diver. She hopes to change the perception the rest of the world has about the Arab world with AYCM and encourage Bahrainis to save the environment.

    Reza is owner of Reza’s Martial Arts Center, where he is also a teacher. The center opened in 2008 and teaches specifically jiu-jitsu, Thai boxing, Capoeira and mixed marital arts. The center hosts four classes a day and also offers private lessons. Reza was born and raised in Bahrain and went to California to study graphic design before returning to Bahrain.     Sami is an airline pilot, and former member of the Bahrain Olympic Team who competed in the 2004 Olympic Games in sailing. Sami was born in Bahrain to a family of sailors, and became involved in the sport at a young age. Sami was a member of the Bahrain National Sailing Team for four years, during which he competed in competitions around the world. However, Sami notes that his favorite place to sail is still Bahrain, his favorite place in Bahrain is Jarada Island.

    Sara is an Olympic swimmer who lives with her family in Bahrain. She is competing in the 50-meter freestyle at the 2012 Olympic Games in London. Sara has been swimming since she was young, but began seriously competing in 2010. London is will not be the end of the road for Sara, she already has her eye on 2016 Olympic Games in Rio de Janeiro.

Sarah is an up-and-coming music producer, composer and songwriter. One of her primary goals is to help develop and bolster Bahrain’s artistic community.

    Shub runs the popular fashion and beauty blog, Dimpled Fairy Diary. Launched in February 2012, the blog covers the topics Shub is most passionate about —fashion, health, beauty, art and travel. Shub was encouraged to start her blog by her best friend, who noticed that Shub was always the one family and friends went to when it came to matters of style or fashion. The name “Dimpled Fairy” comes from a nickname Shub received in college, and she decided it would be a fun blogger identity as well. Shub was born and raised in Bahrain and studied fashion design and business and management in the United Kingdom. She currently works at an oil and gas company and runs her blog on the side. Shub placed third in the category of “best personal blog,” at Bahrain’s Social Media Day Awards. She was also the winner of the Vogue Eyewear competition. Besides running her blog, Shub is passionate about go-karting, horses, design, theater, historical books, architecture, food and travel.

She currently works as the communications manager at Al Riwaq Art Space, and aspires to be a full time artist one day.     Jo is the front woman, lead singer and the lady of the group. She left college to pursue music, a passion which she notes her mom has also. James is the guitarist and vocal front man. He and Jo perform an acoustic set as a duo once a week at Camelot. Cem has been playing drums since he was 11, and was also exposed to music by his parents. His mom is a music teacher and he took an early interest in his dad’s record collection, developing a taste for rock and roll. Lawrence plays many instruments, and is The Noise’s bassist. He bought his first guitar on an impulse at the age of 10. He recorded songs at his university’s music academy while studying economics, and subsequently worked in finance in London, before becoming a full time musician. The band lives and works together in Adliya.

    Waddah grew up in Bahrain and is currently the owner of Badawi Lebanese, a boutique Lebanese restaurant in Manama. Waddah moved to the United States in 1996 to study aviation. He lived in Florida and worked in commercial aviation for seven years. After leaving aviation, Waddah opened his own restaurant, Italian Grill, in Daytona Beach, Florida. Waddah is also a rising star in the Middle Eastern comedy scene. He has performed with well known comedians such as Gabriel Iglasias, The Axis of Evil Comedy Crew, Moz Jobrani, Ahmed Ahmed, Dean Obeidallah and Aaron Keider.
